The Mighty Sloop Heritage Rebuild

The Heritage began a project last November with an anticipated relaunch in June. Unlike cracking a walnut and finding a walnut inside wooden boat owners know that when you open up a wooden boat for a project you often find more than you bargained for and it is looking like the Heritage project will not be finished in time for our 2023 sailing season.
Fortunately, we've leased a similar friendship sloop to continue offering our intimate, private sailing charters this season.

Meet our vessel for the season:

The friendship sloop Inherit the Wind was built by Jarvis Newman in Southwest Harbor in 1974. In keeping with the traditional style of a friendship sloop she has a large cockpit and slightly smaller cabin than other boats her size making her extra comfortable for daysailing around Penobscot Bay. Her owner is currently the commodore of the Friendship Sloop Society.
